Hey, I know we don't know if RoK is going to include the files necessary for them, but does anyone know if EoF included the files for the three adventure packs? Models, zones, etc...

Dont know for sure, although if the patcher lets you download them, then you can use them in eq2emu.

You must buy the Adventure pack or log on to someones account who owns the AP in order to download the neccesary files.

i think that even if you dont buy the expansion packs, as long as you run the launcher it downloads the majority of the expansion as far as models & textures and such goes, that way you can see people wandering around with gear/items from that expansion and "give you an incentive to buy"

But at the "good time" someone having AP can upload files (I think)

The patcher should get all the nessicary files that you need for the packs, and then you just add access to the features by purchasing the packs. Like installing a Expansion, but not using the key code to activate it. The files are there, but you cant access them until your account is flaged with those privilages. In the EQ1 patcher, you could download all availble content via the options menu, but you could not use them (like LDoN adventure givers, they were there, but wouldnt work for you)
Never looked into it myself on EQ2, but there is probably a way to get the neccesary files from SOE through the patcher.

I guess my concern is that if we are freezing at the RoK box for a while, then how would I go about getting access to those zones. Are you going to make it so we can patch to current, but only content that is released from RoK backwards will be accessable?
I can see several problems cropping up with that if it is in fact the case (particularly with the pending skeletal revamp and guild halls).

It will be more than likey the RoK box found in stores. The box set that features all the expansions and RoK. Chaseing Live is a difficult task as frequent as SOE patches things up. Damn near everytime they do, it breaks the emu and it must be patched back up to work witht he clients again. If you give someone a medium at which they can obtain, like a box at the store, it would be easy than saying" Ok, the patch on 12/19/07, go back in time and back up your eq folder on this date if you want ot play.

See that is my concern, because the zone files aren't included in the expansion box sets (even the all inclusive ones).

outside of the model files, the majority of AP files are an optional download, not included in the boxed sets. The box sets only include access to the expansions, not to the adventure packs.

When you buy the adventure pack, you download the zone, that's the true. I bought third pack after EOF was released and I downloaded the pack when logged next time.

Optional download for EQ2 are:
Adventure pack 1 (Bloodline Chronicles)
Adventure pack 2 (Splitpaw Saga)
Adventure pack 3 (Fallen Dynasty)
Audio pack (City ecology, Quest NPC and some other voice.)
I don't know if you juste need aditionnal files for get expansion working or if Updater modify/rebuild some others file in client.
