Broken Items - OP_OnScreenMsg

Xinux (anyone?),

Since we had so much fun dying that one night, did anyone notice (or remember) that when equipment was finally at Condition: 0, what is the popup message on the screen when you try to equip something that is "broken"?

Not talking about the text in the chatbox... but the red text that moans at you in the middle of the screen. I believe the chat text is ""Your \\aITEM %lu %lu:%s\\/a is worn out and will not be effective until repaired.

Edit: Xinux, master of client dissection... can you find a complete list of "types" for popup messages? Here's some examples:

skill_up, skill_down
ui_harvested_normal, ui_harvested_rare
ui_discovery
inventory_equip, inventory_un_equip

The ones that are struck out I cannot get to work in the current live client - obsolete?

Discovered 2 more things about OP_OnScreenMsg -
  • 1. the "size" parameter in our structs is actually display delay. Should be renamed.
    2. unknown is apparently a type. 2 = ding chime, 16 = achievement unlocked, all the rest (0-50) just pop the message up top/center of screen.
I also agree with Jab, that I do not think this particular popup message is for anything other than top/center alerts. There must be a different packet for the messaging at the bottom.

I thought I could find a popup in one of the logs the night we all spent dying to the Librarian together, but whomever the collector was apparently didn't die as many times as me :)

I think the message is "some of your items are broken". And xinux was collecting that run and he probably had repair kits knowing him.

You can also check the veeshans peak logs, xinux collected those as well but we had died a lot fighting through that zone.

I believe that the icon background also changes to an orange color at 10% or 20%, can't remember when

Did verify that the icon backgrounds turn orange at 20%...will get a collection of it next time in.

Thanks to Zcoretri identifying some more menu_type's for the equipment lists damaged items now have an orange background and broken items now display the popup message.
