Having trouble getting started...

Post by aquaojo » Wed Oct 23, 2013 5:34 am

Hi everyone. Glad to find an EQ2Emu project!! I'm not a dev...More of a play tester, but would like to help out.

Here's what I am having trouble with:

I have the downloaded version of EQ2 from their website. It is version 7628L. My computer runs normal EQ2 fine.

I am using Win7 and have copied my EQ2 directory over to /users/public. I have changed my eqdefault.ini file. I have patched using the patch utility (even tried all the versions).

When I try to launch Everquest2, I get this error message: "The options definition file failed to load. This generally indicates that your patch was corrupted for some reason. Try a complete scan, and if that doesn't help then you may need to reinstall."

Wondering if it's something simple maybe I am missing!

Hopefully this is enough info. I have tried to follow the FAQ and went over it a few times. Didn't see this particular error in recent posts, so thought I'd ask.

Thanks!!

Just to be clear did you use the patch utility to patch a normal client downloaded from live? That won't work due to the exe available from that tool is much older than the live client. We do have support for the current live client as is although I don't know if the newest structs/opcodes are on public login and EQ2TC yet.

Let me know if you still have trouble.

I Just downloaded the client from EQ2 website last night
I get this when I try to run the game.
I know you officially only support DOV I was hoping to not have to wait for a box to get to me by downloading from live.
Additionally I used the patcher tool to try and get it to work and thats when I get this error. no matter what ver. I patch it to.

Launching it from the original exe it runs fine but when I enter my login name and password nothing in the world and character fields I get password/account rejected.

current supported clients

6118L Sentinel's Fate (6120 patched back to 6118)
7628L Destiny of Velious (DoV box patched, current base, most support)

Does that mean if I got the DoV box i'll be good?
Just asking because it says patched does that mean patched with your patcher to change the exe?
\

Witht he live client I downloaded last night I can login it checks my password get to character select and then it boots me back out. Assume this is a version conflict didn't know it there was a way to make this work otherwise i'll stop bugging yall till I get my box.

Live client you should be able to log right into our servers after changing the .ini, using our patch utility on a live client won't work as too much has changed between live and DoV.

DoV Patched is DoV box set patched with our tool.

If it is a version conflict you would not be able to get to character select, sound like the connection is being killed for some reason at the login server level. Are you trying to connect to the public login server? If so thefoof reported it was crashing last night when he tried to log in, will have to wait for john if that is the case.

This is what I did

Downloaded Full EQ2 client from SOE web site.
It launched itself and download a good 15 gigs.
I went to bed got up and it was done and I never hit PLAY I closed the launcher.
I copied the entire folder to a new one called EQ2EMU Client

Then modified the File eq2_default to look like the code below.
I launched Everquest2.exe
Entered login name and password and it starts to load.
It finishes its loading and I see in the background a popup to create character and imidiatly a window comes up that says
DISCONNECTED FROM SERVER.
I do have some ports forwarded in my router for running EQEmu but they goto this same machine so that should not hurt things.

When I launch from EQ2Live I can get on sony server with my old toons just fine no trouble.

If I change Via the EQEMU patch to any patched exe I tried them all I get the error saying that I may need to patch and I never get to launch the game @ all.

It appears to be the public login server having problems as 2 team members have reported similar results in private forums. Will have to wait for John to fix it.

Just tried myself on a CoE client (one of our best supported clients) and get the same results, lost connection as soon as I get to char select so it is nothing you did wrong just issues on our end.

Nah, I know the issue is our end and not yours so no point, unless you want to. John will probably have it working again today as soon as hew gets on.

I did setup Mini login but I get rejected @ login because client VER does not match Server how do I correct that?

Also a script.sql to make a new player account didn't find documentation on minilogin to make account to login
Or just tell me what fields are required

Get this in world server window when I try to log in

Code: Select all

18:36:26 I Login: New client from ip: 127.0.0.1, port: 57535
18:36:26 E Login: Error bad version: 57095 - Login Denied.
18:36:26 E Login: Login Denied! Bad version: 57095 (resp 6)

The DB for login server probably doesn't have the updated opcodes, you can copy the opcodes from the world DB and it should give you all the updated ones allowing you to connect. For a player account you can manually add one in the login server DB under the `account` table, all that is required is `name` and `passwd`, there may be a default one set up already with a user/pass of admin/admin

Forgive me for being slow but when one part of the project don't match another part it prove difficult for a newcomer.

you say copy the opcode from the world DB

please explain that am I copying from the SVN,a mysql database table or the server folder?

I attached a sql file for all current opcodes, run it on both your world and login server DB. Not sure why your opcodes table is empty, that is one of the essential tables that world will update when you run it.
