Problems with EQ2 Emulator Pack 1.5

On Friday January 3rd, 2014 I was finally able to get the server running. There are some issues with the emulater server pack that you should know about. Firstly the server pack is set up for installation specifcally for the D: drive! If you do not user the D: drive, there are literally dozens of configuration files that you have to do search/replaces to adjust the drive numbers for the directories and file locations. This affects almost every CFG, INI and BAT file! It took me between 4 and 5 hours to find and make all the necessary replacements. I found this somewhat odd because most people would probably use drive C and not D...

Another issue... For those that need tomcat, the start and stop batch files point to the wrong directory and need to be adjusted. This is not related to the drive letter, although these are affected by that too. I don't remember the exact term, but it has to do with assigning the tomcat home directory... Pretty important for those needing tomcat.

One more key thing to keep in mind, when setting up the server, the IP ADDRESS you need is not the one that shows up when you do ipconfig... It is the WHATISMYIP ip address! Once those things are done, the server works.

Halls Havoc is up and running. My brother and I will be rebuilding it using SVN sources, to the latest available code/db/etc within the next few days.

I just thought this could help someone trying to get the server to run... I can provide a specific list of files that need adjusted, but be aware it's a pretty LONG list...

You must have used the D drive. If you use any other drive letter, it wouldn't work. The mysql ini file needed changed. If you used the mini logon, tomcat needed tweeked several places. If you needed the webpage, apache needed lots of adjusting. I set it up using the C drive and it required all I stated, to get all the various pieces working. If you look at the screen captures in the example install page you referenced, it too showed installed on drive D...

Not so easy for any other drive letter...

The reason we went with D: drive is that most people that i know use drive C: strictly for there OS drive and have a D: drive for everything else. The only thing you really need to change even using the mini login to use on a different drive letter is just MySQL which once you start XAMPP click on config across from MySQL select my.ini then just replace all D: with whatever drive letter you want. All of the other services are just extra if you want the additional resources but are not required to run the server. If you already have the list of files handy post it up and we can add it in to the documentation for the other services.

This is a Xampp problem, not ours. There is no way to config it for everyone, which is why Xampp controller comes with a CONFIG button.

This is of no concern to me ;) ServerPack uses only MySQL, the Xampp pack was included as a convenience, nothing more.

ServerPack is not released as a public server, it's meant for local machine (127.0.0.1) play. I have included, and documented in the Admin guide, how to convert the server into a public server, but you must have missed that.

Sorry it took you 4 - 5 hours to get it working. It takes me 4x that long to make the repack. Maybe the better option is to not release a ServerPack at all and let everyone build their own servers from scratch.

Always good to see a new public server join the ranks. Thanks for your efforts.
