All Quiet on the EQ2 Front

Just a quick update to the players/members of this community; due to the recent announcement by SOE that "Vanguard: Saga of Heroes" is going offline forever (aka "Sunset"), my immediate priorities have shifted a bit to get the VGOEmulator.net project rolling along at full steam. Over there, we have until July 31 2014 to collect as much info as possible - this is consuming much of my personal time, and sadly I am unable to work on my true love: EQ2Emulator - this is only temporary though, for me at least.

Meanwhile, Jabantiz and theFoof are still coding away on EQ2Emulator - while also lending their brilliance to VGOEmulator where they can. Jab is currently analyzing the zoneserver code to see if it needs a facelift - it's pretty old. Getting help from Foof, I am sure the two of them will make an even more stable EQ2Emu when all is said and done.

We've had some serious server stability issues lately, and I want to thank those testers who continually throw themselves on the mercy of our crashing world. Each crash brings us closer to perfection... do don't give up!

See you when I see you.

I just want to add for those that don't know that while I will help out at vgo emulator my priorities are still here at eq2 emulator. I am currently working with foof on the zone server code which is taking some time as it is probably the most important code, hopefully when we finish it up the world will be far more stable then it currently is.

Yup, hopefully the server will be near bullet proof by the time we're done with it , we're rewriting a lot of ancient core code so it should be really nice when finished.

Bumping a month old thread but... I didn't realize there was a VG emulator. The game had so much potential and there was a lot to do. The fact that you could sail a ship around was awesome too. Too bad they made that mostly useless with fast travel portals. I hope to see this running and will definitely check it out!

That game is a terrible mess, SOE have done nothing with it and I'm glad they've finally decided to shut it down. Just found it funny when they did the character redesigns and they looked exactly the same, like SOE didn't you think to actually make them look good? The quests are boring, the world has fuck all in it, they removed PVP, you still cannot treat the world as an open world game or you'll die from moving from cluster to cluster lol....

Lets act like it never happened.

I just want the original EQ2 back, not the dumbed down fucking pile of shit it is today.
