Happy New Year 2015!

Hello all,
Just a quick note about the current state of EQ2Emulator and the plans for 2015. Jabantiz and I will be having a discussion shortly of what we hope to accomplish this year, but as most of you know he is all alone on this project as far as C++ development goes. He does a fine job, but he is just one man. The first priority will be to try and find developers for both C++ and Content.
Meanwhile, I will be working towards roughly populating the world so at least there are spawns to see as you journey through. True "Content Design" will need to happen, which is turning those blank-staring NPCs into something fun to interact with... but at least there will not be zone after zone of vacant space.
I am still deeply involved in leading the VGOEmulator Project, but with any spare time I have I will try and add some effort to EQ2Emu as well. VGO is a little different though, as the players have nowhere to experience Vanguard anymore; while EQ2 is still available for game play, so that is why the priority has shifted for me. Doesn't mean I've abandoned EQ2, just means VG is slightly higher on my TODO list.
Thanks for understanding, and let us know if you have C++ skills or know EQ2 well enough to build zones for us. The tools are pretty easy to use, so don't be shy

Congratulations on another year! You guys have been busy on both games! I agree that most of the focus should be on VG as it is no longer running live where as EQ2 is still updating all the time. Thanks again for all the time and effort you guys spend working on these games!

Happy New Year All!
Thanks for the update John. You guys are the best. We understand VG needs to be on the top of the TODO list, and don't blame you at all. I look forward to hearing the 2015 goals, and hope we can achieve them.

I know EQ2 quite well (I've played actively for five years, which tends to come with some knowledge retention), though I don't know what the needed level of knowledge is to build zones, but I'd be willing to give it a shot.
The problem is my free time - I'm currently working and attending college, so any progress I'd be able to make would be slow - maybe an hour or two per week at most, but if you feel that's still better than no progress, I'd be glad to help.

That is the same problem most of us have here, but we won't turn any one away who wants to help.
Building zones is basically using a web editor to add a spawn to our server and making sure it matches live as best we can. To bring the zones to life requires LUA scripting, but before scripting is started on a zone it needs to be spawned so it is no big deal if you are not interested in scripting, others can come in behind and do it. Feel free to shoot any of us team members a pm if you have any questions or are interested, Cynnar is currently our most active content dev.

Hi everyone
First Hapy newyear to all, and as we said in France, "Et surtout la santé !"
Second thing, sorry Jab for the Beta, big amount of work and some health problem in my family.
I will take a look on forum, changelog and try to log in as soon as I can

I also wouldn't mind getting a handle on world building. I am capable of learning over time and seeing how this is a slow paced project I figure it wouldn't hurt to pitch in and try to learn what I am able in the process. Currently I am going to College full time majoring in Engineering and soon to be working two jobs. I really don't sleep so I have a decent amount of free time through the week when I am not studying. By next semester I will be starting a hybrid course dealing with C++/C#/Java (its weird) so I wouldn't mind taking a gander at LUA either.

Throatseeker, you should have a conversation with Cynnar then, as I believe that is the only current content developer for EQ2Emu.

Feel free to PM Cynnar or me with what you are interested in and we can point you in the right direction.

Thought I'd drop in and say hi.
It's been a couple years since I've checked this (i think). I played the live servers for almost a year and did an obscene amount of quests. Not playing any games right now because of how much work I've been doing but if economy keeps on the way it is I might have plenty of time to mess around with this again, and I don't really feel too bad about that either at the moment
If I find myself in that situation I'll try to look into learning lua scripting. I've done all the basic C++ tutorials on the C++ website and still have all my old notes from my last extended "work vacation". At the very least it'd be cool to help find bugs if there are more monsters to whack out there now.
Keep up the good work guys. If you have a donation page link me to it and I'll toss you a few bones.
