Can't get world.exe to update

Post by limlik » Wed Jan 02, 2008 12:04 pm

I am new to this and am probably missing something obvious, but in the guide to run a server it says that when you run World.exe it should download some stuff. Mine doesn't. I am still at 0.3.

Did you download the EQ2Emulator binaries, or are you using SVN and compiling the source?
In either event, if you are connecting to LoginServer just fine, then you should have the most up to date tables (as by default it gets those automatically). The motd variable in the variables table hasn't been updated in awhile, though, and still shows version 0.0.3 by default. The MOTD has no bearing on the actual code version though.
At present, the latest binaries available are 0.4 and the latest SVN revision is 40.

I would think this would need to be set to your machines IP address, not your WAN IP.

Is it World that is giving the error, or the EverQuest 2 client? Sounds like the EverQuest 2 client. Does World show something like "Connected to LoginServer: eq2emulator.net:9100" after you start it and it loads?
Have you made sure that you have TCP port 9000 open on your router/firewall and pointed to the computer you have World running on?
Also, your "internalworldaddress" entry in your LoginServer.ini should be set to your internal private IP address (like 192.168.0.1 or just 127.0.0.1 if doing this all on one PC).

I am trying to run it on one computer, I want to play it on the same computer but still be able to have other from different computers join. When I run World.exe I get all the errors that are mentioned in the guide.

Have you verified that you have TCP port 9000 open on your router/firewall and pointed at the internal IP address of the computer you have this running on? Could you also post a screenshot of the World.exe window as it looks when you receive the error in your EQ2 client?

It looks like your useing a older server version, as its the 0.3 version. Your not going to get the server to update to 0.4 just by running world, but instead going to sourceforge and downloading the newer one.
Since you do have a older version, your client is probably not compatible with it. Most of the current compatible clients have to be un 0.4 in order to work.
Try to download the new server and replace the exe and op code files in your emu directory. You dont have to change or replace your config files, just everything else.
Heres the link to the SF page to download. Get the 0.4 Binary there!
