(Cancelled) Norrath Reborn (PVE) Progress: Phase 1

Norrath Reborn (PVE)
I am proud to announce that Gangrenous and I (Scribble) have been in development of a custom server. This custom server is fairly simple in direction. We wanted to take some aspects of Everquest 1 and thrust them into the Everquest 2 engine. We sincerely love Everquest gaming and thought what better way to honor the realms that we love than to cherish it with a combination of the two. Although we are in Phase 1 development we are making huge strides both in direction and development.

Some of the great things you will see on this server that have us excited are:
Questing: This should be more in tune with how Everquest 1 questing was conducted. We felt the need to modify this because we wanted the player to feel more immersed in their environment. It seemed to us that in the newer games players would just run to every NPC and gather their quests and conduct them like an errand list "similar to a honey do list that we all love (sarcastic)". Making this change gets away from that aspect and manages to better get the player involved with the storyline. Questing will be custom with a mix of Everquest 1, Everquest 2 and custom developed storyline.

Items: You should see all items more similar to that of Everquest 1. We are enthralled that we have made this change and excited about where this will take us!
Pricing and Currency: This will take us back to the old Everquest 1 with Plat, Gold, Silver, and Copper.
Spells: Within reason all spells are/will be converted to Everquest 1 spells with perhaps a few that are custom made.
Starting Points: Custom- Good will go to Qeynos, Neutral to Freeport, and Evil to Neriak.
Classes and Races: Will be more in line with Everquest 1 being less of each and with naming schemes similar to Everquest 2. Example: Mages are still Conjurers.
Combat: Combat should within reason look like Everquest 2 but the mechanics of Everquest 1. You will need to med, and heal just as you would in Everquest 1. Many classes will not be able to move and cast spells.
Travel: Again this should be similar to Everquest 1 as all the NPC teleport and flying mount options are removed. Boat travel is enabled and we are very proud of the current system. Back to the old Druid and Wizard porting and the good old foot travel. Mounts are still being considered for removal/modification.
Raiding: Too early to tell but we are eager to share our direction with you!

- Phase 1-System Prototype (Things that define "NR")
Phase 2-Streamlining the concept and possible deadline creation.
Phase 3-Working out Gremlins (add / delete) content and features.
Phase 4-The Roll out (final preparations)
