I am going to ask everyone to help me brainstorm on this. Is there a way to hand a spawn, any spawn, an item and it register? Does this even exist in EQ2? If I want to track down how to do it, what is my first step?

i dont recall ever seeing n EQ2 being able to hand an item to a NPC,
the only way i know to see if client supports it is to drag an item to the NPC and see fi there is a different command sent to the server
but i doubt it exist at all

i just rethought this, i would still check the same way
but there is spawn objects that that take items handing to them\drop on them
so if you were to do a collect , in a house or GH that has the storage boxes, you can drag items to the box and it will add them to the box if its the proper type of item
since it works with object that are spawned, there is a good change it may work the a NPC
it would most likely be in the form of a command, to the server that provides a spawnID and an inventory location

That is what I was thinking also. I just need a way to test it. It may be a few months before it gets higher up on my list, but I do want to be able to give objects.

i just confirmed the box must be open to drag items to it
the delete command it coming direct from the client so apparently the client is knowing the destination before the command to move is sent to server
and an NPc, spawn object is not a destination

i don't recall ever seeing an NPC that has an inventory. However, there is a way to "give" an item to an NPC as long as it's ok that the item doesn't exist anymore.
in the HQ
These Boots Were Made for Walking, he asks you to go harvest some stuff and when you come back, you Hail him and the stuff disappears from your inventory and we all just pretend Hwal actually has the stuff now.
if you really wanted to implement an NPC with an inventory - i'd suggest some kind of box next to the NPC so the dialog says "hey, put that stuff in my box".
just had a vision of an NPC with its own bank such that anyone in the world can put stuff in and if you do a quest or you're in that guild or whatever, you get withdrawal / share permission
