Independent Server....... (?)

Post by kingmen30264 » Tue Feb 19, 2008 7:13 pm

I was wondering if having one's independent server was worth it, as far as setting it to one's own standards.
Right now I'm Downloading "Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition" and I was wondering if this will do the job for compiling a Windows Server, for EQ2 that is. I am currently running on a whim at the moment. Any help on the subject would be nice.

I'm not sure what you mean. Why would you want to compile the source if you are not going to edit/read it? Just use the binary already compiled for you and run the server.

Sure will do the job. All you need is TortoiseSVN or similar to get the files from the repository, load the EQ2World.sln, and press F7. If you have trouble beyond that, it's outside this forums capacity to help and is usually a c++ learning curve issue.
If you've never compiled code before, this might be a good place to start. This code compiles well.
