hmm, I am probably gonna cancel my cable tv service because they keep raising my bill. Time Warner raised my rates by $8 this month and they said they will increase it another $10 within the next 6 months. I can afford it, but I just dont use it enough to jusify the $105/month that I am paying them. Anyone have a personal favorite for TV service?

I have Direct TV for my service. I got 4 boxes, 185 channels, Starz, and DVR service for around $85.00 per month. Two of my boxes are loaned out to relatives and I get $30 back for each so I actually only pay about $25 per month for that service. Works out well. Add in $20 month DSL and Im doing quite well for myself.
I personally endorse DTV as I used to be a installer for a local provider. I used to hate Satelite TV cause of the rain and the outages, but the enhancements on the signal strenght to and from the LNB has gotten unbelivelbly good. I installed the 3 dishes for my service (mine and the two other boxes). Out of about 30 hard rains we have had, its only went out twice. One time I still swear was cause of the wind and not the rain, as the dish was loosened up a bit when I went to fix it.
DTV FTW!

yah I was thinking about DTV, but currently I have two TiVos that record stuff for me through their built in tuners (from cable). Sure I could have them contol the DTV boxes, but I have found that it doesnt work 100% of the time. :/ My only real options are time warner, DTV and dish network. Because time warner is the only cable provider right now, they charge whatever they want :(

Well, I like cable when its available cause I can split it up for as many TVs I want. Cant do that on satellite, at least not the proper way. Dish Network is okay, but I have seen, heard and had a few problems with them in the past. Their CS is just plain BS sometimes, the Dishes themselves require unbelivably accurate pointing to maximize signal so the littles mistake is noticable in the rain or clouds, and the way they wire the houses is rediculous. Cable providers and DTV wire houses by having one single wire run to each room, and all wires drop at a certain location, like how it would be if your running CAT5 or something. Dish links rooms together in a chain, so if one goes down, the rest of the line goes.
Something you should look into is the FiOS if its in your area, that coupled with the FiOS TV service I hear is supposed to be a pretty good deal. Didnt know Verizon did TV, but they do it digital through those sweet optic lines. Takes the channel a few seconds to load up, but you get the DVR and VoD services standard with package.
Im a big DTV fan myself. Way things are done, CS, equipment, and I am a big fan of Sunday Ticket when football season starts up. I pay a little more than some other options, but it works out best overall.
P.S. On a job one time, I guy called both my company and Time Warner to come out to his house and install Satellite and Road Runner. The whole time TW was bitching about this and that when they only had to run one line for the cable and one for the cat5 to a second computer, I had to run 5 lines and was fine. They got ran off before the job was completed and I got a $50 tip for finishing thier job. Was pretty sweet. Me and TW never got along after that. I would always see them and for some reason, they knew what I did when those guys left. Pretty funny if you ask me.

FiOS is nothing special unless you are willing to dole out mucho cash. In my area (Southern New England) is it largely available but for the base plan 5Mbps/2Mbps the local Cable provider (Cox) is actually faster. The fast speeds cost $50-180.
As for FiOS TV, it is just your basic cable TV with fewer channels.
