0.7 Priorities / Wish Lists

Now that 0.6 is out the door, let's revisit the wish lists for LE and see what we can badger him into completing for 0.7 :)
From the 0.6 Priorities thread:

Code: Select all

[X] Live client working
[X] Door/Zone points
[X] Loot
[*] Groups
[X] Gathering
[X] Bank
[X] Merchants
[X] Guilds
[X] Revive Points
[X] Quests
[ ] Tradeskills
[X] In-game Email
[X] /BUG system
This was all I could find in our posts previously. The ones with [X] are complete, or implemented enough to start testing.
Let's throw some more stuff at our only dev, and see what sticks. :)

For 0.7+, my personal list is:

Code: Select all

[ ] Instancing
[X] Quests
[ ] Collecting
[ ] Tradeskills
[*] Maintainable Spells
[ ] Support for more spell types
I think Instancing will be huge, so maybe it's best to get it out of the way soon? Quests may be easier to implement code-wise, but we need to start getting people interested in putting this data together into functioning quests (LUA or DB). Collecting and Tradeskills could go together, since they are kinda linked.

Nice to haves:

Code: Select all

[X] Groups
[X] Merchants
[X] Mounts (just because they are fun)
[ ] Zone access flags
[X] /BUG system
[ ] AA/Achievements
[*] In-game Maps/Fog data
[X] In-game email
I put groups and merchants in the not-so-important pile because really, what's the point right now? Probably a good target for 0.8 or 0.9.

Let's get more info from others, and LE can generate a priority list off what we're hopeful for.
-J

PS: LE, feel free to edit this post to add/remove or fix something I am not correct on.

I think trade skilling should be low on the priority list because who wants to play an emulator to trade skill? (Unless you need something to do while reading a book or watching TV ).
My list is:

Code: Select all

Questing
Instancing
Grouping
Merchants
Guilds (maybe)
I feel those are all things people will want to do when they log onto an emulator.
And I believe LE got 0.6 working with the current live client.

I'd like to add mounts and pets - oh and a new race...samurai rabbits for the good side and ninja porcupines for the evil side :D

I added Mounts to my Nice-To-Haves. They are a fun aspect, and hopefully we'll come up with a way to fly any mountable NPC (griffons) anywhere we freakin want. ;) Maybe... I mean, we can fly carpets in Live, no? Or are they pretty much still a ground-mount?

Any mount can be flight enabled :) All I have to do is send the /flymode packet.

Yeah, but isn't the /flymode just a little odd looking? lol... no offense, but me laying horizontally to go up or down is not very... hmm. immersive. :D
Of course... neither is a over-sized rat that wears leather armor and flies on a griffon over fields of pumpkinheadmen.

Definately going to need:
Maintainable spells working 100%
Improvements to support more types of spells, not all, but most.
And the above posts describe what i'd like to see as well.

I'm pretty sure that I can make it appear correctly when using mounts and flymode. Maybe a flying pig? :P

Here is the list that I have compiled from everyone's suggestions. I have ranked them in the order in which I will begin working on them. Beta will start in 0.8, so we have two releases to get the major stuff done and working reasonably well.

Code: Select all

/BUG system
Merchants (I'll merge Aaden's merchant code into the baseline)
Quests
Item enhancement/overhaul
Spells (More options/types)
Instancing
AI Enhancements
Combat revisit
Pets
Mounts
In-game Maps/Fog data
Groups
In-game email
Collecting
Guilds
Tradeskills
Zone access flags
AA/Achievements
Aaden, if you want to work on instancing that is fine with me. Let me know before I get there though so I dont duplicate your efforts. Oh and be sure to email the merchant code to me and I'll get it merged into the baseline.

Awesome! With this in mind, I will be posting some information regarding the "teams" I think we need to form up in order to reach this goal of Beta in 0.8. Hopefully there will be enough interested parties to help us out in this effort, because it's going to be a big'un...
I am trying to take the reigns on all-things-non-C++, meaning the database, the scripting, and the tools. So I'll be needing a lot of help :) Got a tool you've developed? Show them off if you wish so we can see what we have to work with come data cleansing time.
Plus, I think soon we need to plan a "load testing party", maybe on LE's or my server, to see how it stands up to say 20 people in a zone hacking away at mobs and such. Maybe I'll schedule something for a weekend coming up. Anyone interested in this?

The bug system now works. Just use the regular bug reporting GUI inside of EQ2 to submit bugs from in game. I will make a page in a bit that will let everyone see the bugs that were submitted. In the mean time feel free to use it as they will be saved, you just wont be able to see them yet.

The bugs tables are stored at your end, correct? Not individually (yet)... I'll check it out, tho I am sure it will be a lonely page, cuz there are no bugs.
;)
Edit: ok, submitted my first bug from TessEQ2. Let me know if you did not get it.
