Hey All,
I think I might have misunderstood something. I was under the impression that it's not possible (currently) to use anything other than the RoK box set installation or one of a few unavailable client updates to play EQII on an Eq2Emu server. But then, as I was tinkering with the Eq2Emu files, I started wondering if that was only true for hosted servers (i.e. servers made publicly available thru eq2emulator.net. So this is my question: if I just want to run a personal server for LAN use only, is it possible to use Eq2Emu with any version of EQII?

At this time, you have to run a server through eq2emulator's login server. Also, I don't believe it's really the login server that matters in regards to client version. The opcodes that determine what client versions will work are a part of the server emulator.
Occasionally the client versions are updated. Just keep updating, and watch here for when there is an update that will work. Remember, once you get one, back up your client, and do not patch it again.
Almost forgot, the simple answer to your question is no.

Jalister is right on the money. Though the LoginServer does in fact deny clients that are not "verified" versions. When one of our testers post that a certain Live client version is now available, it is because of what Jalister said... opcodes need to be re-verified when SOE patches their client.
Best bet is the ROK Box Set, still. It's a sure thing.

Re: Personal Server
I to was only looking in to this so I could create a personal LAN EQ2 Server. Is there in work going on to make this possible? Thanks for any info.
And I do have the RoK Box set if that matters in any way.
