Optional Spawn Data Updates

Post by John Adams » Sun Jul 20, 2008 10:13 am

LE, consider this.
Can we have the "zone data", like NPCs, objects, spawns, etc... be a configurable option in our loginserver.ini? I was thinking about it this morning, that if admins want to get other static data updates from our Update server, but not spawn data due to any customization they might have... could this be a viable alternative?
Or maybe we just say "if you are doing custom data, you are on your own" for all other datas... what do you think?

You can turn off the updates in your LoginServer.ini file. I suppose we could add a separate option to update only certain things like opcodes though.

Aye, not too critical, but I was thinking of a setting for "this is what you need, regardless of your customization" data vs. all that crap people will be doing to fancy up their servers. Opcodes is a prime example of "required" updates.
But then, maybe after release (if there ever is a Minilogin setup), maybe the DB can be handled like PEQ does - with occasional major releases instead. That would give custom servers the option to not bother.
