This question might be a bit ahead of it's time but; When the emulator opens, do we need our clients patched or not.. I know a lot of content was released via GU's, thus my question.

As it is scheduled now, the Emulator will be functional with the RoK box set client and that client alone. This may change once that time comes since we do not know what that client may have instore for us. It will most likely hold on that client if it can to allow futher development on the emulator itself, other than devoting resources in "chasing" LIVE patch after patch.
However though, When beta opens up to the select few that will have the oppurtunity to try it, the client will then of course be a "LIVE" client for that point and time so everyone will need to patch up or be able to patch up to have a shot at beta.

I plan on releasing it to a public alpha around Mid October. I'll post a reminder as that gets closer, but I would say stop patching after October 5th or 6th. That should give me enough time to ensure that the version that is out at that time works correctly by the 15th.

All I can say is fingers crossed that SoE releases something functional with the RoK box. With the massive patches they have released with each of the past expansions, I hope they don't do the same here. I particularly hope they don't release something like the skeletal revamp with the LU but require the change to run RoK (since the Sarnak use the new skeletal system).

You're just going to have to update to RoK and then you should have all the required files needed to play.
