Red "KOS" visual on NPCs

Post by John Adams » Fri Aug 08, 2008 1:14 pm

Soon as you set something to 'attackable', they get the red KOS marker around their names. Has anyone (probably LE heh) figured out how to turn this off? I know it is faction-based on Live, but how can we set that with our spawns now? I have tried various visual_states or appearances, but I don't think it is controlled that way.
Anyone?

It is just hard coded if the NPC is attackable since we don't yet have factions working (stay tuned). I can turn it off if you like.

Can it be configurable in the NPC record or it's LUA? I know faction will decide, so maybe it could be determined at the server. I am just wondering if there is any case where someone might want to control that themselves, without altering their faction tables?
Being on now, doesn't bother me. I thought I could config it, that's all.

We could make custom factions start at an id of 8 and reserve 1-7 for the different con levels. So if you want something to be KOS you would use a faction id of 1 and the default would be 3 (or 4?) which would be indifferent.

If you think the factions thing is worth the effort, sure. Otherwise, I am baited by your (stay tuned) lol and willing to wait for the official version. Then I can complain about customization ;)
