All SOE services will be undergoing upgrades to the authentication system

Not sure why it would, but I am not entirely sure what all this will cover. Certainly I would think they would get rid of that plain-text,cookie auth crap they were using for Station stuff...but not sure why they would have to bring down all the worlds for just that.
On a related note...why in the world does it take 24 hours to make an update you should have ready to roll out before you start in the first place?

For the time being everyone should be updated to the latest patch available right now (Sep 11 2007 SOEBUILD 4364T). Keep a version of this patch saved for now just in case if any drastic changes are made.

Isnt this for the new server client they have, the one that is going to integrate everything into on window. So if you wanted to connect to EQ, you open x window, or EQ2 which also can be opened and patched from x window.
Just seems like they are combining all thier systems into one auth system for more simplicity and to further entice players to try other games and sign up for the station pass.

Well, I hope it's just that and nothing serious...considering I already had 9/17/2007 4377L :(

In any case I hope it does not screw up anyone's packet sniffers.

Yes I have hear this a time ago they want a multi game launch pad but don't know if they want a unique login server.
Well hope you have right ^^

In any case, the new auth system will need some re-configuration with the emulator as I'm sure they're not implementing it just to 'Ease the player's experience and introduce them to new games.'

Everything is OK. Looks like if it sets us back at all it wont be more than a week or two. According to their website, they are done with the 'upgrade'. After reviewing some of the packets sent from live, it appears nothing major changed that would spell doom for EQ2Emu.
