Instancing

Post by Aaza » Wed Sep 26, 2007 7:49 am

Will instancing work through the emulator? I know eqemu, they havent had much luck with instancing, so I am curious.

Yes, the way the emulator is being set up now will allow for instancing.

Well, the thing was, Eq was never a huge instanceing game for the longest time. The EqEmu team had a existing server that they built and added stuff to over the time, but instancing to my knowledge would be hard to do for the way the server is set up. Now EQ2 on the other hand is alot harder on instancing. So naturally, starting back from scratch and makeing a new emu, you can plan ahead and get the code working for instancing and not be caught off gaurd with it down the road.

EQ2Emu was designed from the beginning to handle instances and will do so.

Yes, EQ 1 was not big on instances. Not until Lost Dungeons of Norrath. EQEmu was built prior to LDoN so instances were not thought of and never really seen.

If i remember right, Plane of Time B was the first example of instancing for raids in eq, and in my opinion the best.

Instancing is what makes people happy that their dragon didn't just get ninja killed by another guild and they have to commit e-suicide cause they didn't get their epix.
Or so i've heard.
