Alright everyone,
http://eq2emu-reference.wetpaint.com/
I have been working on this for quite a bit, and its finally coming around to the point that I will begin advertising it in earnest. For the last few months, I have taken a portion of my server website and making it into a reference site for all the models in EQ 2 currently. This list (of which there are 10,000 items) is broken down into what I refer to as Masterlists. These Masterlists are further broken down for easier navigation. The Masterlists are as follows:
- Animated Objects (breakable walls, etc.)
- Creatures (pretty self explanitory)
- Projectiles (these are all the spell animations)
- Static Objects (furniture and such)
- Wearable Objects (Armors, clothing and the like)
- Wieldable Objects (Weapons and talismans)
Currently, the Creatures Masterlist is up and complete through client 5016L. I am currently working on Wieldable Items and they should be up by the end of the week.
In the end I hope to have images for each of these models, however I feel it is more important to have the lists up first than to slow everything down by dealing with screenshots.
Please stop by and tell me what you think!

Awesome start! Btw if you didn't realize this, there is currently a list of appearance ids that were changed recently in characterrevamp.vdl in the runtimevdl directory.

Thanks LE.
I did not know about that VDL, but after looking through it it looks like it does 2 things (correct me if I am wrong) it does the remapping for normal models vs. SOGA, and it looks like the beginning of the skeletal revamp. Unfortunately, the skeletal revamp has been abandoned by SoE, so I don't think the second part will matter a whole lot.
Sony has stopped with the revamp (so there are several models that cannot be accessed by the client and never will be) and is now trying to things to keep people happy.
1.) Snap-Ons- Basically addition features used to customize Player models.
2.) They seem to be redoing how they do armor, allowing for the customization of armor by players (??) such as having one shoulderpad larger than the other.
I am not sure if either of these will actually happen however, so their impact here is minimal for the time being.

Gotta keep myself busy while all of you guys do the real work. I was always a fan of all the models in the game, and I figured this would be the best way to contribute.

Zexis, as our resident Model sleuth, maybe you can help me figure out these new oddities I am finding in some of the zones recently. I see for instance a model_type of 9435, which I cannot find on your list of creatures, but it shows up in game as some oddball looking thing -
9435.jpg
Other places I see what looks like armor pieces just stickign out of the ground - and when I target and look at the details, there is an NPC name associated.
tifillie.jpg
Just one example. I got dozens of them. Also in our test of Commonlands, I have what look like shoal gliders spawned all over the place. Scat thinks these may simply be captured swarm pets perhaps... but anyway, point is I am seeing some really odd models since tSO. Wondering if you've seen the same thing, or can help figure it out.
I can give you access to my dev server if you want to take a look at the raw data yourself.
Thanks,
J

After hopping on live real quick and trying to compare those spots, I do not see an NPC named "Tifillie" right there... so you suppose all these odd things I am seeing are pets?

I'll take a crack at it John. If you could do me a fav and PM me a copy of the appearances.dat file from the client you are using to connect I'll be able to help you out sooner, since I seem to have forgotten my flash with my model stuff on it at home.
Oh and as far as the shoal gliders are concerned, if they are regular shoal gliders, then they are misspawns. The swarm pets are water elemental shoal gliders (they are made of water).

The appearances data I am using is from the tSO client, I'll send you a link to that and my database for you to take a look.
As for the gliders, they are not targetable nor have names or stats that I can see - they are just laying on the ground all over the commonlands heh. Kinda funny, actually. I am re-parsing some older data today so the server will be up and down.

Well, not to necro a damn near dead thread, but I got news!
I have completed categorizing all the models up to TSO into nice easy to deal with lists. I need to do a little bit of format tweaking, but soon(TM) I will release all of them to the world. After that I am going to begin work on the addition 2k models that have been added since TSO.
Keep an eye out!

You had to pick the lava horse
That model is actually only on test at the moment, so until it is pushed to live and that client is validated for our use, no lava horses your you!
