Some Zones not Rendering

Post by Arremis » Thu Sep 11, 2008 9:15 am

Some zones aren't rendering. You can tell by getting your /loc, then using the /move command, then getting /loc again, you haven't moved anywhere. All you see is UI and black empty space (not even character shows up). Is this because these zones need to be collected, or has SoE not implemented them yet?

Good question. I have no idea why the blackness. I asked a long time ago if anyone had any idea how best to find the actual zone areas in a 0,0,0 zone in that was black, and I think I was told to keep /move'ing til I saw daylight. :)
However, if you are reporting that even /move does not move you, then can you make a list of the zone_id/name so we can investigate thoroughly, and/or remove those zones from record?
Thanks

Which zones. Btw since you are using the /move command you are modding your Locs, and zones themselves are just big empty spaces if you go outside of it. Like if you go under the zone it might be black or rendered sky because that part of the zone isn't used.

Yah which zones? I *think* I can get a set of coords directly from the zone file.

Here's the list of zones I've come up with. I had a double look and the /move command is moving me about, I just can't seem to pin down the locations.
Overlord's Throne Room - ID 244
Circle of Elders - ID 255
The Vestibule - ID 188
live_irontoes - ID 175
Throne of New Tunaria - ID 96
Stormguard - ID 100
The Sanctum of Fire - ID 172
I am the UI Master...there is no charge for my awesomeness.

Throne of new tunaria's coords are -76 69 -890.
Stormguard isn't a real zone. it was never finished by sony.
Circle of elders isn't the circle of elders, its the tower basement for the old tradeskill quest.
I am going to check on the Overlord's throne, vestibule and sanctum of fire on live.

According to collected data, The Circle of Elders is the last quest on the evil island given by Tayil N'Velex, and is accessed via the wooden door in the mountain behind the treehouse.
The odd part, we have spawns there - and I have been inside that zone before. It's the same zone from the goodie islands final quest "Source of Evil", which we also have data for. Not sure why we cannot see anything in there all of a sudden. /zone 255, then /goto Breeze, and you will see there is something there - just can't see it. Very strange.

Btw, I think I fixed Circle of Elders. It was set to the wrong zone "file" name for the instance.

Overlord's Throne Room - ID 244: 205, 1, -318
Stormguard - ID 100: 157, 17.5, -65
Circle of Elders - ID 255: -9, -9, 158
The Vestibule - ID 188: -484, 407, 380 AND -480, 407, 388 (one is in the hallway, other is in the room) since we dont have door widget id
live_irontoes - ID 175: 352, -20, 143
Throne of New Tunaria - ID 96: 57, 67, -699
The Sanctum of Fire - ID 172: -332, -80, -675

I'll edit this post as I find more of the above list. I focused on that one first since it supposedly didnt exist.

I see the light! These coords are good. Updating the zones info as you post these. Thanks LE.

What's the file name on this? tutorial_island02_epic02? It worked when I changed this to tutorial_island02_epic01 with the same coords as Source of Evil. Perhaps I am wrong in this afterall. ;)

Ok, now I am very confused.
When I captured both good and evil islands, they both had this finisher quest as stated elsewhere. They both had the same zone (so I thought?) because the collected data parses at the precise spawn points as expected. How is "Circle of Elders" the original noob tradeskill zone, instead of the zone Tayil sends you to whack the goodie Kayl of the Circle?

Yup tutorial_island02_epic02 was the correct file for those coords.

tutorial_island02_epic02 is the tradeskill zone and tutorial_island02_epic01 is the quest part.

Ah, old school tradeskill I guess. Currently, Outpost TS zone is the same as a fprt_tradeskill01 file. I think it's cool we still have access to the older one tho, for those of us who liked moving the piles of stuff around and hanging mirrors. :)
