EQ2Emu DB Project Server

TessEQ2 was originally created as an open, open-source project. As the development team steam rolled through the gigantic amount of content, pumping out scripts, quests, and items faster than a wood chipper, you got your hands on it the moment that happened. Kind of like in Subway, they make the Sub in front of your eyes. This allowed the Development team to get feedback straight away from bugs, glitches, floating corpses that followed you around trying to attack you... etc, and you guys got to play around with stuff the split second it was completed. After a year of "more Jalapenos, less capsicum" they have decided its time to put things under wraps, and keep on tanking their way through. This means you guys don't get the new stuff straight away, but that means less crashes as well! Here is why the moved over into a more closed open-source project;
- Eq2Emu is well under way, and all of the big nooks and crannies have been filled with the core of the Emu.
- If TessEq2 kept up like this, you guys would have a great risk of losing data when it comes to the more important things, Fabled Items and the like
John Adams wrote:Also, crashes. No one likes crashes.
- This "Undercover" approach allows the team to focus on development, and I thought these guys couldn't go any faster!
- This way, we can develop way of releasing content before people start losing Fabled gear!
On a final note; TessEQ2 isn't going anywhere for you guys, its still up, running, fully functional and maintained to you guys can *crash* *bang* and *wallop* all you like. The Dev Team won't keep everything to themselves, whenever a zone is very near completion, its going straight up on public TessEQ2.
Any questions?

I hope you'll update the TessEQ2 server every once in a while with current data, just to let us know where you are. Currently on that server half of north qeynos is missing. But i'm sure you got through that. ...unless i'm making a completely n00by reply

Hehe. We are currently working on getting all of the starting areas done. This includes Queen's Colony, Outpost of the Overlord, the Qeynos hoods (Graystone, Baubbleshire, etc), the Freeport hoods (Scale Yard, Big Bend, etc), Darklight Wood, and Greater Faydark. North Qeynos, Qeynos Harbor, East Freeport, etc will not be worked on until these are closer to completion. We are almost there, but keep in mind our team is extremely small, and unfortunately, we have stuff to take care of besides working on the emulator
But as we finish, and do a quick test, we'll push it to TessEQ2 for you guys to tear it apart and let us know what's wrong!

What Scat said...
Add to that, I will move completed - or mostly completed - zone data over when the team tells me a new zone is ready -- AND -- the zone to be moved is not going to cause partial functionality. Ie, Longshadow Alley has quests that take you to Graveyard. No sense releasing Longshadow if Graveyard is incomplete... etc.
Same old story --
I know this community is eagerly awaiting "content". Problem is, we got 2-3 people working on it with real lives, families, and jobs. Most of the time, Scatman (the primary scripter) is also building server core functionality to support our content. That takes more time away from just building the world. Not an excuse, just a fact.
Until we have 100 people working on this emulator, helping with data collection from Live, scripting in our emulator, and helping LE with coding... this is gonna go slow. Patience is all we ask. Oh, and more help. Interested? Get involved.

Hehe, yeah i thought so, but thanks for answering quickly. It would be nice to help, but i know barely anything with scripting...i could learn possibly haha. But thanks for saying so, i am completely looking forward to seeing the work that this will turn into
Now if only the amount of people that checked out the first EQ could be here...would be much faster

(still a noob, but know that the first EQ apparently had lots of peolple checking on)

As was so quickly pointed out to me in another post, EQ emu (#1) is older, more complete, and has a huge fan base. EQ2Emu will too, just in time. EQEmu wasn't infamous it's first year either, I suppose.
As for helping, it is not just C++, database, or scripting where help is needed. The areas are vast. Testing every facet of the game, ultra important. We have to know where bugs are, or where something doesn't work like it should. Also, for the long-term life of this project, data collection from the Live game is critical and requires NO skill except playing the game.
These are things anyone can do with minimal effort.

I really have to second John's statement. I have no programing skill what-so-ever, but even I have found a place to be productive here. Just because you can't program doesn't mean you can't be of use.

Every bit, no matter now small it may appear, helps the end result.
Zexis has been more than productive here. Don't let his modesty fool you. Without his work on Zones and his own Model List, we would be lost.
Now where's that list of 1000 new Velious models, damn slacker!

Now i think we owe Zexis a thank you

lol I am holding them ransom until I get my title back, John!
Although, you can expect a spreadsheet with all the models up to the RoK client categorized and sub-categorized this weekend.
I should then be able to put out a TSO update shortly after that, and then your precious Velious models

Hmm, I've been having problems with my server. It will update to character_details and then timesout and skips the rest.
This is with the latest compile.

Are you saying the server is crashing? or your client is crashing

I guess we'd be able to help you better if you bothered to read the Help forum rules on what we need from you in order for us to help. Heck, we'd really like it too if you were able to log in... but telling us "i crash" is like going to the doctor and saying "I'm sick" and expecting him to figure it out.
I'll await your detailed description and logs of the problem as detailed extremely well in my "How to ask for help" post.
Until then, this "nonsense" till continue.
PS:
here's a link to the post, so you don't have to actually look for it.
